2017 Offaly Culture Night Exhibition Eyes on Boora
Eyes on Boora Opening: September 22nd 2017 15.30, Lough Boora Discovery Park Visitor Centre, Boora, County Offaly.
Eyes on Boora is an exploration of Lough Boora Parklands through the eyes of the community’s children. Commissioned by Offaly County Council for Culture Night 2017 and facilitated by visual artist Aisling O’ Rourke the exhibition sees children from Broughall, Coolanarney and Lumcloon National Schools, display photographic studies of the parklands. The 50 children involved will create the work on display in a workshop on September 8th 2017. They will be divided up into teams and tasked with creating images that reflect what Boora means to them. As a group we will then curate the exhibition to be installed in the visitor centre for Culture night. The pupils will officially open the exhibit for their community at 15.30 on September 22nd.
Through Eyes on Boora, the 50 pupils involved from Broughall, Lumcloon and Coolanarney National Schools are being given the opportunity, not only take part in Offaly Culture Night 2017, but to charge of the occasion for their community. This exhibition is part of an overall documentary project on the parklands. Aisling O’ Rourke is available for interview on 086063057.
